Councillor Carol Kambites (Vice Chair)

When I moved to Stonehouse about 12 years ago I was looking for a way to get involved in the local community and, as I had previously been a town councillor in Stroud, I decided to stand for Stonehouse Town Council. I serve on the Regeneration and Environment Committee, the Development Control Panel and on the Events and Policy Working Groups. I was also a member of the group that put together the Neighbourhood Plan.

I live in Oak Way with my husband and have two grown up sons and four grandchildren – a boy and three girls. I’m now retired but previously worked as a physics teacher in a number of local schools, at Ruskin Mill and then as a Research Fellow in the Countryside and Community Research Institute at the University of Gloucestershire.

I’m an active member of the local Green Party. I’m a keen cyclist and chair of the Stonehouse Wheelers Cycle Club and a member of Stroud Valleys Cycle Campaign. My pride and joy is my allotment, which is in Ebley, as there were no vacancies in Stonehouse at the time I took it on.
