Stonehouse Town Council is a point of contact for local residents who wish to express their concerns or ideas for the town. Through its links with local agencies and authorities e.g. Stroud District Council and Gloucestershire County Council it tries to address issues even when the solutions are outside its control.
As a consultee with the Local Planning Authority the Town Council seeks to express the wishes of the community. The Town Council also has a close working relationship with the Police Authority and raises concerns where appropriate.
Within the town there are four major recreation areas at Oldend Lane, Meadow Road, Laburnum Walk and Stagholt for which the Council has responsibility. It seeks to ensure that these areas are maintained and readily available for the benefit of residents. In addition, the Town Council seeks to ensure that the many public rights of way through the town are accessible. The Town Council also has responsibility for allotments and street furniture in the town.
The overall function of the Town Council is to make the town a safe and enjoyable place to live and work.
We can help with local information, provide bus and train timetables and tourist information.
