Details of Stonehouse Goodwill Fest 2018 confirmed

15 November 2018 at 11:44

The annual Stonehouse Goodwill Fest will be taking place on 1 December 2018 – please come along and join us, we have FREE PARKING available from 14.00 in the main car park!

This exciting and vibrant event opens at 13.30hrs and as always will have a huge variety of stalls selling handmade items, crafts, tombolas, BBQ, raffles, hot drinks,  vegan food as well as the ever popular Santa's Grotto in the Doctors surgery.

Free activities will be available for children to enjoy in the Town Hall, including several performances by Alfredo (children’s entertainer) face painting, nail painting and icing biscuits.

A full programme of singing and entertainment will take place on the main stage all afternoon from many of our local choirs and the Friends Ukenited band playing a range of tunes on their ukuleles.

There will also be reindeer to feed,  Mr Skipton's vintage steam engine and as a grand finale Santa will be parading along the High Street,  followed by some magnificent lanterns made by local clubs & schools.

Bloomers Café will be in The Old Post Office for the whole day serving yummy hot drinks and homemade cakes all raising funds for Stonehouse in Bloom.

Many of our traders are taking part in the decorated window competition with this year’s theme of “Winter Wonderland” – visit all the shops and choose your favourite, the winners will get a prize! A list of those taking part will be available from the Town Hall and on the Stonehouse Goodwill Fest facebook page.

None of this could take place without the support of our local traders - a massive thank you to the many local businesses that have generously made donations to help us put on this amazing event, we wouldn’t be able to have so many amazing attractions without their continued valuable support.

Public consultation: A new Community Hall for Stonehouse funded by new housing

29 October 2018 at 14:28

Consultation open from Monday 29th October to Monday 3rd December:

Through this consultation the Town Council seeks to explain the case for provision of a new community hall with enabling housing. The document will explain why the chosen route to funding the community hall is through new housing development of 10 small units just outside the Local Plan settlement boundary. Development outside settlement boundaries has been achieved before in other parishes. The settlement boundary is in effect Oldends Lane. The proposed housing development is not one mile outside the settlement boundary but merely a few feet.

The Oldends Lane Redevelopment Funding Survey can be viewed here:
