We apologise for the late posting of the details below, due to holiday this was the earliest we have been able to post details on the Town Council website.

The outline proposal would help Stroud District Council to fulfil its obligations to meet its full, objectively-assessed housing need for new homes and provide a five-year housing supply and, in so doing, would help to protect other more sensitive locations, including the Stroud Valleys from future development.

It offers the added benefit of 25 acres of employment land, to be developed simultaneously with the residential element, and the prospect of real job opportunities for the people of Stroud District.

The plans include provision for a primary school, sports pitches, children’s play areas and a local centre, as well as a ‘green’ buffer zone to protect the hamlets of Nupend and Nastend.  Thirty per cent of the homes would be affordable, in accordance with the requirements of the Stroud Local Plan.

The development team would like local feedback before submitting an outline planning application to Stroud District Council. In particular, we should like to hear the views of councillors who represent Stonehouse, Eastington and Standish, and representatives from the local business community.

We should therefore like to invite you to a preview session before the public consultation events, to take place as follows:

  • Thursday November 21, Stonehouse Town Hall, 12-2.30pm
  • Saturday November 23, Stroud Subscription Rooms (Kendrick Room), 10-11am

In attendance will be representatives from the project team who will be happy to go through the proposals and do their best to answer any questions you may have.

If you are unable to attend at the above times, you are very welcome to attend the open sessions of the public consultation events which are as follows:

  • Thursday November 21, Stonehouse Town Hall, 2.30-8.30pm
  • Saturday November 23, Stroud Subscription Rooms (Kendrick Room), 11am-5pm

Attached is a copy of a leaflet about the events which is being distributed to approximately 4,750 local householders in and around Stonehouse and Eastington.

We hope that you will be able to make one of the dates above. If you are unable to do so and would like to know more, please get in touch with the planning consultants in charge of the consultation Pegasus Group on 01285 861717. Alternatively, please contact me on the numbers below and I’ll do my best to help.
